Noor Omar Amawi, PsyD, earned her BA in Psychology and Sociology from Wichita State University in Kansas; she later moved to Boston and completed her PsyD in the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. In addition, she completed a Harvard Medical School- Department of Continuing Education certificate-training course (HMS-DCE) in Global Mental Health and Trauma Recovery.
Dr. Noor completed her internships and fellowship with the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma (HPRT); treating and advocating for the Iraqi refugee population. She also contributed to a substantial amount of HPRT’s research related to the countries in the Arab world. Dr. Noor continues to work with HPRT on international projects concerning the safety and wellbeing of Arab refugees.
Upon moving to Amman, Jordan Dr. Noor joined the Maria Den Braven Team as a Clinical Psychologist part-time, while also fulfilling the role of Mental Health Clinic Supervisor with Medicine Sans Frontier in Irbid until September 2015, where she was treating Syrian Refugees suffering from trauma related disorders.
Dr. Noor treats both children and adults who have endured traumatic experiences/ trauma related disorders- Major Depression, PTSD, and other Anxiety disorders. She has experience treating cases of domestic violence, rape, and long-term consequences of childhood abuse and/or neglect.
