HPRT has pioneered the care of traumatized persons worldwide. After 40 years of scientific and field work HPRT is known as the “most powerful and nourishing global mental health innovator in the world.” HPRT has treated over 15,000 culturally diverse patients, many who have been tortured, built integrated holistic primary health care systems in Cambodia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Peru, and helped write Liberia’s new national mental health policy. Through many classic research studies, HPRT assisted in establishing a new field in medicine focusing on health, mental health, and human rights.
